Drug facts told to club dying out. Now dealers are getting youngsters involved at a younger age. The drug is also being made more carefully. Even though it has been more carefully refined, death through overdose is still common because the body's tolerance changes from day to day. Sgt. Oswald also noted that there still seems to be a slow incline in drug use in the area. By CHERIE HUBER CENTERVILLE -- Speaking to the Centerville-Farmington Rotary Club, Sergeant Jim Oswald of the Centerville Police Department told the members that drug use is like a cancer: the outcome depends on how soon it is discovered. Parents sometimes know that something is wrong but they just don't realize what is going on. He brought a display of evidence that has been collected in Centerville over the years so the men would be able to recognize drug related equipment. He also told the members that almost as many girls are involved with drugs as boys. Some arrests have been made of children as young as ten but drug use seems to hit a peak between the 17 to 20 age ' bracket. In the past, many people have considered marijuana to be one of the less harmful drugs. Sergeant Oswald considers it to be one of the most dangerous. Use of marijuana leads to use of other drugs. Recently Recent-ly marijuana has also been found to have other drugs mixed with it. The second problem drug is LSD. For a period of time the use of that substance seemed to be |
