| Show OUR SIDEWALKS OR RATHER LACK OF THEM we have not lot beard of the town board taking any action looking towards the betterment of the deplorable condition of what we call sidewalks in the town there is plenty oame to have some decent side walks in monticello before fall and a very small cost gravel judiciously spread will give the public a walk one can walk on and not skid and one that will be 1 reasonably dry even in rainy weather this is proven by the few places that have done this very thing we have a town that we are all proud of during pleasant weather but let a little rain come and it is another story there is not a place that you can cross the street without wading in mud to the tops of your shoes and not a decent side walk in town with the exception of the few feet of board walks and the few stretches that private individuals lave have graveled and the walk to the church we wondered the other day as we were obliged to go out into the street to get around the car of a state employee just why they will ivill come to a small town and do the things they would not think of doing in a large city or flare dare to do for that matter our side walks are poor enough but they still are not parking places and there is certainly room enough in in the streets without making people go out into the street to get around their car |
