Show S.U.P. Museum Open to Public The general public is invited to view the pioneer relics and other historic items at the Pioneer Pi-oneer Museum of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, 3000 Connor St. (2140 East), Sunday, Dec. o, from 2 to 5 p.m., it was announced announc-ed by Sugar House chapter officials of-ficials yesterday. Largest Rifle Of special interest will be "the world's largest rifle" which will be displayed for the first time I Sunday. An English make, the 72-inch rifle was used in elephant ele-phant hunting during the early part of the 19th Century. It required re-quired two men to handle it, and it shot a ball one inch in diameter. di-ameter. It is now part of the museum gun collection, which is one of the' finest in the world. Wagon Displayed Of special Interest are the omy surviving "prairie schooner' used by Johnston's army and a huge 19th Century "G.I." pot, used in the kitchen of the army. Also included in the exhibits are- pioneer furniture ana household articles, tools used by -the Mormons in farming and construction work and early pictures of Mormon leaders. Several newly-gathered items in the line of pioneer household relics will be on slisplay for the first time Sunday. |
