As we have mentioned in this column for the past two weeks, this annual party for Zone D 'will be held at the Avalon ballroom on south State street about two miles south of the Sandy city intersection. inter-section. The date of the dance is Dec. 11 It is informal. Pres. Harvey Eckman of ttie Midvale club, the host club, informs me that everything is in top shape and everyone should come prepared pre-pared for a good time as that is the purpose of this party plenty plen-ty of dancing, a floor show, with refreshments being served throughout the evening. Make your plans now to be there. The place: The Avalon ballroom. The date: Dec. 11. The time: 8:43' p.m. The cost: Xothing. This one is on the house and all that is required is your membership card showing that you are a member in good standing. If you can't find your card, come anyway. The secretary or someone some-one will be there to let you in. Lion Hibert Nielson, .chairman of the boys and girls committee -j is working very diligently on the ! proposed party for the kids at I Christmas, but at this time does not have arrangements to the point that he feels he wants to make an announcement. If everything ev-erything goes well we should be able to have all the details in this column next week. Watch this column, kids, for all the dope. Plans and details for the skating skat-ing rink in Holladay are coming 1 along in fine shape and the diking dik-ing of the pond should start in the next few days. The lights will be put up so that we can all enjoy night skating. The Christmas lighting committee com-mittee also plans on having the lights up and on in the next few days. They are still trying to secure some additional equipment equip-ment to augment the material we have on hand. Perhaps you have read in the paper the past week about the Salt Lake county commission asking for bids on our new community com-munity building and fire station. As we mentioned last week they plan to have this building started start-ed before the first of January. Next Monday evening, Dec. t), we will hold anoither meeting wilh the new Hvland Lions club. At this meeting the election elec-tion of officers for the club will be held. Any member of the Holladay Lions club who would like to attend this meeting should notify President Arch AI-dous AI-dous of their intention to attend as it is a dinner party and we have to plan for it. Any person .living in the area of 3:ird South and Highland drive is invited in-vited to attend the meeting if he is interested in joining the new club. Lion Bud White, chairman of the entertainment committee has completed arrangements for our next dinner meeting on Dec. 12 at Andy's. Lion Bud has arranged ar-ranged for Warden John E. Harris Har-ris to speak to us on the progress prog-ress of the new Utah state prison, pris-on, irrigation and farming at the new prison and how the new prison should make itself almost, if not entirely, self-sustaining. This promises to be a very interesting in-teresting meeting and as it is the only meeting for December every member should attend. i. Cannon, Dec. 22. :): The Holladay Lady Lions auxiliary aux-iliary has held two meetings at the home of Afton Osguthorpe, 41596 Highland drive. The first was held Thursday, Nov. 21, and the second Thursday, Dec. 5. The club completed work on stuffed dolls and animals for the Primary Pri-mary children's hospital's Christmas Christ-mas party. Dec. 23 the officers will take these gifts to the children chil-dren and present a program and refreshments. This has been an interesting and worthwhile project proj-ect and all the members of the auxiliary have enjoyed it. Congratulations to Lion and Lioness George Cardwell! Lioness Lion-ess Cardwell presented Lion Geoi-ge with a baby boy Dec. 2. We haven't got any details as to weight and height, but we're sure the baby has red hair. |
