POLICE i CALLED TO DUTY j Four Sugar House police officers of-ficers have been alerted to re-1 port for active duty with the armed forces, according to Lt. j Owen poulsen, chief of the lo-1 I cal station. They are Don T. j ! Roberts, three-year veteran of ! the local force, Floydlynn ; Baker, who has been on the . Sugar House staff since 1048, and William L. Robinson and F. M Atkins who have been here for 3V4 years and 9 months, respectively. Military Police I Officer Baker is one of 16 Salt Lake policemen who are members of the 436th military j police company, organized reserve re-serve corps. This company will j I report for active duty Oct. 8 I at Ft. Douglas. The unit will probably be as- I signed by Sixth army headquar- ; ters either as a post company or in a cornmunications zone. Officer Roberts will leave Sept- 15 for Treasure Island. Calif. He is a member of the ; naval reserve. Officers Robinson and Atkins will be called to service with the 363rd Criminal Investigation Detachment. They will report to Sixth Army headquarters within 30 to 60 days. Loss of these four men will reduce the local force to seven men, Lt. Poulsen said. No immediate im-mediate replacements are expected ex-pected to alleviate the shortage. |
