Show HEAT IS ON License Unit Besieged By Drivers Combination of the normal spring rush and the "heat" of Salt Lake City Judge Arthur J. Mays' safety campaign, have more than doubled business at the drivers license division of the State Tax Comission, a recent re-cent report disclosed . First report by Villiam W. Taylor, 1346 Murphys Lane, newly appointed statistical analyst ana-lyst of the commission, revealed that for the month of February and the first two weeks of March, 1950, activity in the drivers license division increased increas-ed more than 100 per cent over the corresponding period of 1949. The exact figure is 101.4 per dent. Most notable on the report was the heavy increase of "Saturday "Sat-urday business" and the clamor at the counter at the State Capitol Cap-itol for original and renewal licenses. Commented H. P. Leatham, director of drivers license division, di-vision, "Business is too good . . . however, at the present time, we are able to keep abreast of it." Mr. Leatham further opined that from all present indications, indica-tions, customers apearing at the counter in the state capitol during the month of March wou.ld push total applications fur oiiginal and renewal licenses to an all-time ' high for any month of any year to date. |
