Captain West points out that the few precious minutes .which will - be-saved by having hav-ing equipment stationed in the area could easily mean the difference dif-ference between the saving or losing of a home. Volunteer fire fighters from the area are qualified under civil service and receive regular regu-lar and periodic training in fire fighting procedure and first aid. Any vacancies opening up in the regular ranks are made available to the volunteers first.
