Karl Knell of the Sugar House Lions Ladies' auxiliary, organized a new unit for Holladay. Members of the Holladay club should be proud of their wives for wanting this auxiliary, as the past experience of other clubs has proven that such a unit certainly helps the Lions. The charter officers of the new auxiliary are: Mrs. Hoy Hobbs, president; Mrs. Norman Berndt, vice president; Mrs. Glen Barber, secretary; Mrs. Harold Har-old Thomas and Mrs. Don Archer, Ar-cher, two-year directors; Mrs. Nate Wagstaff and Mrs. D. A. Osguthorpe, one-year directors. The board of directors of the ladies' auxiliary will meet and finish drawing up the constitution constitu-tion and by-laws before their September meeting, and at this meeting it will be presented to the membership for approval. Charter membership in the organization or-ganization will be held open until the October meeting, to be held about the fourth Thursday. All wives of Holladay Lions desiring de-siring charter membership in this organization should contact Mrs. Hobbs or Mrs. Barber on or before the October meeting. Our .congratulations, Gals, and we are looking forward to many happy years of work together. Remember 100 in September The regular September dinner meeting will be held on the 12th at one of the recreational areas in a nearby canyon. Lion Burgess Bur-gess "Bud" White, acting chairman chair-man of the program and entertainment enter-tainment committee, has plans well underway for this annual picnic. We wanted to give you as much advance notice on this as we could so that your wife would be sure to know about it and reserve this night for the party. Remember 100 in September Saturday afternoon and evening, eve-ning, Aug. 24, will long be remembered re-membered by the boys and their fathers as one of the finest outings out-ings ever held. Those who failed to attend this annual affair sure missed a dandy. Lion Hughie Xielson and his committee really J put on a swell party for the gang. The weather was ideal, not too hot, not too cold, just right. The boys and fathers had a Softball game, and believe it or not, some of the fathers play a mean game, and we have plenty of material for a team to enter in a tournament. tourna-ment. Contests were held in horseshoe pitching, foot races and sack races, these contests being divided so that the kids, juniors and adults had separate competition. After the games were over the feast was on. President Pres-ident Arch served hot dogs until he was ready to bark. Lion Phil Debbs spent the evening taking caps off the soda pop. Lion Helaman Heintze hauled all the fire wood and grub up to Tanner's Tan-ner's Flat on bis truck and spent most of the afternon and evening eve-ning cooking, slicing buns, spreading mustard and reilsh on 'em and being a big help in general. gen-eral. Lions Glen Heintze and Harold' Thomas also spent most of their time assisting with the I serving. It's no wonder that after aft-er the grand job Lion Hughie did with his annual party that vou heard such remarks as, "Gee I didn't know there was so many hot dogs in the world." ... "I only had seven or eight" . . . "Boy I feel like I'm going to pop" . . . "Are they going to have another one next year" ... "I sure hope I never miss one of these parties." . . . "Where is Mr. Dornberg? He sure is a lot of fun" . . . and the story about little Jimmy Barber saying his prayers earlier in the week While we were having a rain storm: "Please, Lord, don't let it rain Saturday and spoil the Lions party." That should give you an idea how the boys feel about THEIR party. Our thanks to everyone that assisted Hughie in any way and we are all looking look-ing forward to another big party next year. ( Remember 100 in September i Roy Hobbs, chairman of the attendance committee has in his possession a sample of the attendance at-tendance prize to be given all members of the Holladay club having 100 per cent attendance from Sept., 1946, to May, 1947. Having seen one of these swell gifts I am sure everyone will want one for his home or office. I might remind you that you must, attend the meetine on |
