" - Hope Hilarious In Current Centre Show "Monsieur Beaucaire," which opens today at the Centre theater, with Bob Hope and Joan Caulfield starred, runs the gamut of comedy from a minimum mini-mum of funny to a. maximum of hilarious. Th comedy version of Booth Tarkington's famous novel is a tongue-in-cheek romance of 18th century court life which makes a fine vehicle for the inimitable Hope brand of tomfoolery. The film takes Hope out of the 20th century, but be never forsakes his present day, rapier-like wit. The picture tells the story of Beaucaire, played by Hope, who is the royal barber in the palace of Louis XV. Hope with a razor in his hand is more than the king can stand, and, becoming particularly annoyed, Louis orders or-ders Bob beheaded. Disguised as France's foremost swordsman and lady killer, Hope flees to TEN LAUGHS A MINUTE with chuckles in between is the claimed score for ".Monsieur Beaucaire," starring Bob Hope, Joan Caulfield, Patric Knowles, now at the Centre.
