Show Rites Honor Mrs. Strand Final tribute' was paid at funeral fu-neral services held last week for Mrs. Esther Carbis Strand, prominent Sugar House businesswoman busi-nesswoman and wife of Paul E. Strand, manager of the K & K Plumbing, who died Aug. 20 at a local hospital of a heart ailment. ail-ment. Mrs. Strand was secretary secre-tary of the K & K firm which was established by her father, the late W. O. Carbis. In addition addi-tion to her business activities, Mrs. Carbis had been prominent in social and club circles, being Rebekah Lodge No. 1, ladies for 15 years a member of Naomi auxiliary of the IOOF. Born March 24, 1901, Mrs. Strand was a daughter of W. 0. and Mona Carbis. She was educated edu-cated in the public schools of Salt Lake and was married to Mr. Strand on Jan. 16, 1925. He was a member of the Salt Lake Bees ball club, and later played baseball for Toledo in the American Amer-ican association and for the Phiadelphia Athletics. Surviving are her husband; two brothers, Maj. Wayne F. Carbis Car-bis and Allen J. Carbis, and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn J. Dobson, Salt Lake, and Mrs. Alberta C. Gadd, Midvale. |
