Show South East Bowlers Qualify for Playoff Some pretty bowling was done in the Southside league last week when 5 men rolled over 600. Led by Ed Malin with a 659 series and 256 game and Marv Cleverly with 654 and 266, the others were:C. P. Anderson, 627 and 266; H. Richardson, 607 and 230; and Dave Chipman 608. Walt Fellows had a 223 game, and Sid Neslen rolled 225. Dee's Hamburger was high team with a 2817 series, while Barnett and Weiss had 993 or single gams, i Motor Merc, had 2532 for high series in the Independent league last week, and Anderson Jewelry had 885 for high game. R. Barra-clough Barra-clough was high individual, roll-i roll-i ing a 592 series and 220 game for Mollerup Moving. I In the ladies Forest league, Berdine Scott had' 471 for high 'series, leading the Palm team to J a 2035 series and 739 game. Lyle Sudbury of the Popular team had! 179 for high single game. I Mecca Bar rolled 2607 in the Southeast league for high series last week, and the Independents who are in top place made 893 I for high game. Roy Williams of Ashton Heating had individual honors with 575 series and 224 game. I In the Lumbermen's league, Bob Scott with a 619 series helped help-ed Utah Pigeon Club take high series with 2649, while R. Avery 'had 239 in U. S. Gypsum's 927 high game. Auto Supply won 3 I points to go first place in the league. j Michels' Roofing was one point ahead of Quality Press in the j Cardinal league at the end of last Friday's play. Ben Franklin took 4 points with their high 2232 series including Erma Stevenson's 484 series and Ruth Young's 179 high game. Fashion Cleaners were high for one game with 775, and tied for a play-off on one game with the Southeast team. , .. ... ........ ; In the last two week's play of the Sugarhouse Major league, high individual honors were earned earn-ed by John Holt with 6z0 for series and 233 for game, and Bill Swan with 646 series, Lyle with 236 for game. Sugarhouse Coal and Granite Mill divided the high team scores. Two weeks ago Sugarhouse Coal took high series with 2756 while Granite Mill rolled roll-ed 958 for game. This week 'iran-ite 'iran-ite had 991 for game. Granite stays at the top of the I eague with Sugarhouse Coal and Thor tied in second place. The Southeast is proud to be represented by Dave Chipman and Bill Ward in the play off to de termine the challenger for the state match championship. Dave, Doug Muir, A. C. Smart of Og-den, Og-den, and Bill finished in that order ord-er in the preliminary play. Botn Chipman and Bill have been in good form all season, and we expect ex-pect a fine showing in the play-I play-I off. |
