Show Congratulations , , ,-j j-, p- -, v m This week The Bulletin wishes to extend its cordial congratulations congratula-tions to Mr. E. Richins, a booster for the Sugar House District and an employee of the Utah Light and Traction Company, on the sixty-third anniversary of his birth Wednesday, April 9th. Mr. Richins' fattoer was one of the first settlers of the Echo Dam Region, and it was here that Mr. Richins was born and reared. Mr Richins assisted his father on the farm until he completed his ed- at mining in Colville, Utah, Mr. (Richins came to Salt Lake City and placed an application with the Utah Light, and Traction Company In August of 1906 he became employed by the company as Conductor on the street cars. He was later advanced to rnotor-nian rnotor-nian and at the present time is working in the capacity of Bus Operator. During these thirty-five thirty-five years of continous service with the company, Mr. Richins has acquired a commendable safe- ucation at the age of ninet-en, when he left home and obtained a job associated with the Union Pacific Railroad. A year later, however, he became a victim of nostalgia and returned to his homestead to try his hand as a sheepherder. Finding the uneventful unevent-ful hermit-like life of a sheep-herder sheep-herder not to his liking. Mr. Richins Rich-ins left home later and began a search for a lucrative occupation. occupa-tion. By leaving home a second time. Mr. Richins says he was definitely branded the "black sheep of the family" in the respect res-pect that today all of his immediate immed-iate family are en-nf'pd in the occupation of pheepberding. After an unsuccessful attempt ty record and besides having been presented with, a one-year National Nation-al Safety Award, signifying one j year of operating without an ac-j ac-j cident of any description, he has also bee awarded two s lver stars by the company, signifying seven continuous years of driving without with-out a chargeable accident.
