Show Third ; Presbyterian Church j It-may come as supise to many who are noting the tak of Anti-Semitism Anti-Semitism in America that the President of Hebrew Union College, Col-lege, Dr. Julian Morgenstern. declares de-clares that "The Jewish group is bound to disappear on a seper-ate seper-ate racial and national entity in America." Of course he adds that it will neverless persist as a sep-erate sep-erate and distinctive reigious group." This church recently gave a fine offering to the combined work of Emergency Foreign Missions Mis-sions and Relief work which include in-clude religious work in Army camps, for refugee groups and for orphaned foreign missions. Apropos Ap-ropos of the latter gTOup we are reminded that "Christianity has an opportunity in China today the like of which has not appeared in the world in a thousand years. REGISTRATON OF EX-SERVICE MEN With thousands of men who have been serving in the Army scheduled for release from the Army forces before Christmas, Acting State Director of Selective Service, today warned that such men must register under the Selective Sel-ective Training and Service Act upon their discharge. Although, under certain conditions, con-ditions, the Acting State Director Direc-tor said, some men discharged from the Army will not be liable for further peactime training and service under the Selective Service Ser-vice Act, it is encumbrant upon them to register upon expiration of their service if they were within with-in the age group of 21 to 36 on October 16, 1940, and if they have not already registered. The Selective Training and Service Ser-vice Act is specific in requiring refistration of men within the age group of 21 to 36 who have served serv-ed in the Army. Those men who were within the active National Guard on October 16, 1940, and who have completed six or more consecutive years in that service ser-vice are relieved from peacetime liability for addional service and training, but they must register Men who were members of the National Guard and who have completed less than six years of service are relieved neither from registration nor training Although the War Department has ordered organization commanders com-manders to warn the men that they must register when disrharg ed, Acting State Director Rich said that in his opinion that some of them released thus far had failed to have themselves enrolled enroll-ed and recommended that such men visit local board offices at once. |
