Show pRoyal Stone 5 A 1 I was bom December 13, 19u2, on a farm just out of Murray in Salt Lake County. When I was fourteen, I became a scout in Troop 3. My first year in scouting I had eight scoutmasters due to the World War. I stayed in this troop for two years and held the office of Senior Patrol Leader when I went to Murray and joined join-ed a troop. There I became Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and readily read-ily advanced to the Scoutmaster-ship, Scoutmaster-ship, and held this position for five years during which time I received my Scoutmasters Key. In 1926, I graduated from the University of Utah with a letter in track that I had earned by running run-ning the mile. I believe I had my greatest thrill when I was presented pre-sented this letter. Previous to mv graduation from the "U". I had graduated from the L. D. S. University. Following my graduation, I. taught school for ten years dividing divid-ing this time up equally between Sanpete, Maroni, Cyprus, Irving in Holladay and Jordan. In 1929 I was asked to be District Dis-trict Commissioner of Cottonwood Cotton-wood district. This I readily accepted. ac-cepted. In 1935 I chose between school teaching and scouting. I chose the latter and immediately went back to attend the National Nation-al Training School in Mendon, New Jersey, and the same year became Field Executive in the Salt Lake Council. My duties today include training train-ing and service in the Bingham, Cottonwood. Bis- Cottonwood. East Jordan, West Jordan, Tooele, Too-ele, Oquirrh, South Summit and Summit districts, all Senior Scouting, Scout-ing, Camp Director at Camp Steiner, and secretary to five committees, camping health and safety, Senior Scouting, Explorer Scouting and Finance. In between times when I am not working I sleep at home in Holladay, am married and have four children, three for the girl scouts and one for the boys. My hobby was archery until the clean-up campaign, now it's cleaning 14 acres. So far my life has been used in working with boys, and I hope to always have that opportunity. |
