Show UNIVERSITY 3 NEWS Oil was added to the gears of one of the University of Utah political machines this week as publicity campaigns denouncing a fraternity's alleged underhand activities in vote-getting backfir-ij backfir-ij ed on the opposing faction and brought in even more votes for "Fraternity X" from all over the campus. Long scenes of well-planned election el-ection activity, "Fraternity X" stopped just short of nothing in the primary elections held on the campus last week in an effort to place its three men in the finals. Men were stationed at bus stop the Library, in telephone shanties and under every tree on the campus cam-pus in an effort to stimulate interest in-terest in the election. It was stimulated. stim-ulated. All three of the "Fraternity X's candidates weathered the primary election blasts and came out on top of the heap with a substantial lead over closest competitors. The University's major publication, publi-cation, The Utah Chronicle, denounced de-nounced the "ancient tricks of the trade" in the last issue before elections. Light was thrown on the fine machine the "X" fraternity fratern-ity had organized and latest reports re-ports from the polls showed that the campaign to stimulate antipathy anti-pathy towards the alleged underhand under-hand methods had backfired and swamped the opposing man under un-der a flood of "type lice" and students votes. The campaign tree has been chopped for another year, but bruised feelings have been left unhealed, and the hatchet of propaganda pro-paganda hatred will probaly not be buried for may-a-moon to come.
