Show Accidents at Steel Plant Rare Accident figures to date at the Geneva Steel plant indicate an exceptionally favorable record, according ac-cording to the safety coordinator for Columbia Steel Company, Defense De-fense Plant division. National statistics show that on the average construction job there are around 29 lost-time as-cidents as-cidents per million man hours worked. At Geneva, lost-time accidents ac-cidents run less Uian 20 per million mil-lion man-hours worked. i The national average for construction con-struction jobs also reveals that there are three days lost time for each thousand man-hours worked. work-ed. The figures at Geneva, excluding exclud-ing the three recent accidential fatalities, show that less than one-half day is being lost for each thousand man-hourh worked. work-ed. When the lost time from fatal accidents is included, an overall over-all accident experience approximately approxi-mately 50 per cent below national nation-al average for construction jobs is indicated. |
