Show Mi. Olympus Mounties Give Show at Fair At the Children's Horse Show, held Children's Day at the Utah State Fair, Monday, Sept. 16, the Olympus Mounties, under the direction dir-ection of W. Hugh Sweeten Drill Master, and his assistant, Ed Vo-da, Vo-da, presented a drill and acted as color-bearers for the opening of the show. The 90 members made a co!or-,ful co!or-,ful and impressive entry. Among winners in the show jwere many of the club members. First place in the jumping class went to Penny Huffaker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall E. Huffaker, Huf-faker, 5000 South 1100 East, and second place was taken by Chas. Sweeten, son of Mr. and Mrs. ,W. Hugh Sweeten, 1776 East 5700 South. Western Pleasure class, horses under 56 inches, first place was taken by Lynda Pyper, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pyper, 1590 East 4800 South, and second place went to Lynda Forsey.l daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry i Forsey, 2149 Pheasant Way, Holladay. Hol-laday. In the Western Pleasure class, horses over 56 inches, first place Was won by Craig Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Armond Thomas of the Town & Country Inn, andj second place winner was Cherie! Smith. Next event for these boys and girls of the open trails, is an Early Ear-ly Bird Breakfast Ride, to be held on Sept. 28. They will ride into the canyon country, where breakfast break-fast will be cooked and served by their Drill Master, Hugh Sweeten, helped by his assistnat, Ed Voda. The Oakwood School Parent-Teachers Parent-Teachers Association members heard speakers Elmer J. Hartdig-sen, Hartdig-sen, Superintendent of the Granite Gran-ite School District; Dr. Kenneth C. Sarrer, Assistant Superintendent Superinten-dent and Dr. O. C. England, Tuesday Tues-day evening. v The first meeting was conducted conduct-ed by Mrs. Barr E. Quist, president. presi-dent. Light refreshments were served. |
