Drivers wul be pen-alized for infractions of traffic icguiations. , An ouscrvcr will ride in every car to race the driver on his habits. Parents, jaycees and other citizens will serve as observers. Parents are welcome to ride with a so.i or daughter driving in the riu, but can act as observers on.y by ricLng with other students, Mr. Moench said. Every car in the contest must pass a safety inspection. The run serves to teach the students that the combination of regular maintenance work, safety inspections and good driving habits result i the eco-nomical operation of an auto-mobl- e, Mr. Moench said. , Two possible courses are be-- ' ing considered for the run. The one that is selected will be -- measured, certified and posted by the AAA. Committee Chairmen Committee chairmen for the ;t Teen age drivers at Granite and Olympus high schools were busy this week tuning up their family cars and cheating their personal driving habits in pre-paration for the Mobilgas safety-eco-nomy run Saturday. The Tun is being sponsored by the Sugar House Jaycees and will cover a 90 mile course, according to D. Richard Moench, chairman of the event. The run will test the students safe driving habits and the per-formance of their cars. Drivers will start and end the race at the Mobilgas station at 53rd South and State Street. The first car will leave the run at - 7:30 a.m. Winners will be announced and trophies awarded at the victory luncheon after the run. Merchants have donated the picnic lunch with Grand Central furnishing the hotdogs.Fisher Bakery the buns and Cloverleaf Dairy the orangeade. The run is not a race, Mr. Moench said. Rather iU is a test of driving and auto perfor-mance. event include Boyd Keller, ob-servers; David B. Anderson, luncheon; and Cal Ashton, scoring.
