It is time that the residents of Salt Lake City rose up and demanded, not requested, that something be done to aleviate this situation. We all make contributions to many so-called charitable tirives that directly do not concern us. I, for one, could probably be classed at the top of this list. Even though I do not live near this' area and would not be directly influenced or profited by such project, I would give my wholehearted support, including time, anergy and money to see that something was done about it. . It Is high time that not only the city fathers but the state officials as well, took an immediate and genuine interest in a project to eliminate this hazard., Our City Fathers are going to tap money out of the General Fund to pay for construction con-struction on Derks Field, this .is taxpayers money. Our legislature legi-slature tabbed $500,000 of taxpayers tax-payers monev to build a replica of the old Salt Lake Theatre. Let's forget about the cost of a project that will save lives so that the young may' live to enjoy this ball field and this replica: Lets put the horse before : the ' cart Instead of the cart before the horse, so to speak. Let the leaders of our city and state, along with the rest of the legislators rise np and prove they are leaders by immediately commencing a project to stop the sacrifice of our young ones so that they, too might live to enjoy life like the rest of us are doing.
