Show Granite Jr. High j LIusic Festival Draws Applause A fifty-piece band stole the show at the Granite Junior High School music festival last week. Polish and precision usually found only in senior high school groups was paraded before an almost full house, , Lloyd Beckstead led his 50 boys through Bennett's Activity March,1 a Bach Air, Barnes Danish Folk Songs, Ketelbey's In a Persian March. I First public performance of a' new Granite Junior High School song was sung by a boys' chorus directed by Henry Maiben. It was written by a student. The girls' chorus sang a novelty number, Be Kind to Your Parents, and Rodgers You'll Never Walk (Alone. The alto section was especially es-pecially effective "on the Rodgers number. The school orchestra showed versatility ver-satility with three numbers, including in-cluding Tune and Workout by Kleinsinger, Over the Rainbow by jHarburg Arlen and Gavatto Staccato Stac-cato by Whitney. Mr. Beckstead also lead the orchestra. The entire choral group combin-!ed combin-!ed with the band to perform God of Our Fathers as the grand finale. |
