Show Roosevelt, Alterra Drop Opening Grid Games Friday A heavy Rangely, Colorado eleven and a more experienced Pleasant Grove aggregation, Friday, Fri-day, Sept. 15, spoiled the grid opening of two of the Basin's football elevens as the Colorado team downed Alterra 13 to 6, as Roosevelt was dropping a 21 to 0 contest to the Vikings in the Utah county city. The Alterra - Rangely contest was played here and was a. close ball game all the way, with only the excess weight carried by the Coloradons making mak-ing the difference in the game's score. Sams and Fullinwiter pushed over the two scores for Rangely, while Kitchens crashed over in the third period for Al-terra's Al-terra's score. Over in the Strawberry community com-munity the Vikings scored in every period over the Rough Riders. They racked up a safety in the first period, and pushed over a touchdown in each succeeding suc-ceeding quarter. Jerry Walker took a forward pass for the first touchdown. On a nice running run-ning play he scored again, with Merlyn Allred bucking the line for the third score.
