Show Jj VIEWPOINT gj CLIFF MEMMOTT, Editor ,p TL HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY f KEEPING OUR CITY CLEAN .... if mv memory serves me correctly, editorial comment made in the Standard a few weeks ago about the trash miners that have been provided as an aid in keeping lIin street clean. I woud like to add my two-bits worth now that I secured an interest in your city. I commend the city mrials who, I am sure, are spending many hours of their 1 claiming ways and means to make Roosevelt a more Sable place in wnicn t0 live- Tne trash-can idea is a ood one, but like all projects, it takes cooperation to put :!0VTnere is one way the city's project will work you j I must use the cans for what they were intended. In altier words, when we have refuse to throw away on main treet ue the container, and not the gutter. There is noth-;Jg noth-;Jg more unsightly than a littered main street in any city ' 'wTare all imbued with pride sufficient to inspire us omake our homes, our yards, our offices, etc., attractive ad clean. Roosevelt belongs to all the people who live in - thus it is your, responsibility as much as our mayor's t'o make Roosevelt a clean, inviting city that will attract more and more people here to establish their homes and business interests. s R s J'OOSEVELT LDS WARD SETS SOME ffilD OF MISSIONARY RECORD .... This week. I was informed by the officials of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, ihat within the next couple of weeks, six young men and women will leave their comfortable homes to go out into fi ie world to represent their church as missionaries. I Each of these young people will finance his own mis-an, mis-an, which will be from 18 months to 2Vz years in length. ' Each is going because he has a desire within his heart to devote that much time to a cause he is converted to. There isn't anything particularly unusual about a young LDS boy or girl going on a mission, but the fact that all ii of these young people had planned to make this sac-race sac-race long before our nation was dragged into the Korean ear, is interesting. The unusual feature about this affair is the fact that a joint testimonial and farewell party is being planned next Tuesday evening for six missionaries, which will no doubt be some sort of a record for Roosevelt. s R s JIEW SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR MAKES TINE IMPRESSION ON PEOPLE .... It was my pleasure yesterday to meet and chat briefly lith Duchesne's new school superintendent, who recently look over the administrative responsibility of directing our county schools. Eighteen years in school work has ripened Dean C. (Jristensen into one of Utah's most prominent young educators. edu-cators. He possesses a pleasing and impressing personality, Sat makes one feel positively certain he knows where he 3 going and what he is doing. He has many fine ideas that aould improve our school program tremendously. Another great thing in Mr. Christensen's favor he -kes the people of Duchesne county, which is important in Ming a success out of his work. s R s MEMBER NOVEMBER SEVEN ., Areat Privilege will be enjoyed by the American peo-e peo-e tms fall a privilege they will find difficult to appre-te appre-te because it has been handed down to them from gen-il0?0 gen-il0?0 generation.
