Show Ellen Bracken Phone 62062 Cub Sccut Pack Presents Program On April 30, Ballard Cub Scout Pack No. 3252 had their . first pack meeting with only two Cubs not present in the pack of 25 Cub Scouts. The program was un- der the direction of Cubmaster and consisted of a Cub fun song and the prayer The parents then went in one room with the chairman, chair-man, while the Cubs stayed with the cubmaster ten minutes. The skit this month was under the direction of Den No. 2 with Wilma Haslem and Alice Squire as den mothers. The theme was "Bird Watchers." The stage was set with a large bird house from which each Cub came out in costume cos-tume and gave interesting facts about the bird he represented. Tlr background was beautiful with big tree branches all around. The the boys made little paper mache birds and nests and set them in the branches. There were canary and parakeet birds in cages all about the room, also paper mache ducks in a lottle pond. They boy's also made bird houses. One den gathered beautiful bird feathers and fastened on posters. Den No. 1 gave a little recitation recita-tion stunt called the "Whooping Jays," with Vionner Parrish and Inez Squire as den mothers. Den No. 3, with Osa Hullinger and Ethel Ercanbrack as den mothers, made a report of a trip a story and a game. Den No. 2 sold two canaries to raise funds. Refreshments consisting of cookies and punch were served. A very good talent show was held at Alterra school on Monday with many of the students participating. par-ticipating. Carol Rasmussen received re-ceived first prize. Judges were Mrs. Delma Long, Mrs. Wilma Haslem, Mrs. Carma Jenkins and Mrs. Barta Jenkins. PRESENTS LESSON Mrs. Eunice Cook presented the Book of Mormon lesson in Relief Society on Tuesday, May 1, and' Mrs Marilyn Killian the teachers' topic. NAMED SECRETARY Mrs. Cecil Jenkins was elected secretary of the P-TA at Union High School for the coming school year. Mrs. Farrell Rasmussen entertained enter-tained a group of boys and girls Sunday afternoon in honor of her daughter, Carol Lee's birthday. PLAN PROGRAM On Sunday, May 13 a special program will be presented in Sunday Sun-day School in honor of the mothers. moth-ers. All mothers of the ward are invited. Mrs. Craig Harmston, of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Scott Bryce, of Ogden, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus An-gus one day last week. Both of the ladies are sisters of Mr. Angus and formerly lived in Ballard. Sanford Butcher, of Sydney, Nebraska, was an overnight guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Butcher. He was accompanied by his brother-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn O'Neil of Price were weekend guests at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O'Neil. ' Mr. and Mrs. Don Killian stayed at the home of Dr. and Mrs. R. V. Larson to care for the home and family while the Larsons were on vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook are the very proud parents of a baby girl, born this week. The elated grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Cook and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ern-est Betts. NEW COUNSELOR Carl Winn was sustained as activity ac-tivity counselor in MIA. Calvin Squire is president. The baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O'Neil was blessed in Fast meeting on Sunday and given the name of Lori Jean. She was blessed by her grandfather, Vaughn O'Neil. TO GO ON OUTING The Aaronic priesthood' will participate par-ticipate in its annual trip to Uinta Canyon on Saturday, May 12. All priesthood members are urged to go. Transportation will be furnished furnish-ed and each one going is asked to take his own lunch. |
