Show First All-Indian I Ground Observer Corps Organized The first all-Indian Ground Observation Ob-servation Corps in the United States started' functioning in Whiterocks last Saturday. Initiated by T. H. York, Baptist minister of Gusher, and operated by Wilson Taveapont, chief observer, ob-server, the Corps now has nineteen nine-teen volunteer observers who have been standing watches during the daylight hours. Violet Grant, assistant as-sistant chief observer, is helping 'o train girls and women to serve. Three evening meetings have been conducted by Mr. Taveapont in the Parish Hall at which instruction in-struction has been given in the identification of planes, the proper pro-per procedure for reporting flights and the keeping of logs. Through these meetings which are open to many others have become interested in-terested and are considering sign-H sign-H up for service. Material for a tower, to be furnished fur-nished by the government, is exacted ex-acted soon, and Indian labor will erect the structure which, when Quipped with a telephone, will men be the observation post. Hoyd Wopsock was to have had we honor of being the first to erve as an observer in this unique , rps, but failed to show up when fn&- Rosa Parriett substituted w him and has the distinction being the first observer. |
