Show Minutes Of County Commission Meeting Reported Minutes from a special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners Commis-sioners held Aug. 11, 1955, at 7:00 p.m. in the courtroom. The Lakefork Bridge was discussed dis-cussed at some length with Mr. Evans. Commissioner Lyle L. Young will be the one from the commissioners responsible for its completion. W. L. Anderson, state road engineer, en-gineer, asked the county commissioners commis-sioners to list the next three projects proj-ects recommended by the county commissioners for priority improvement im-provement with federal secondary funds. Mr. Mickelson recommended recommend-ed that the Tabiona bridge and road be the No. 1 project. Mr. Lamb said he would be willing will-ing to do the Tabiona bridge and the Arcadia bridge next year and let the road go until the next year, but Mr. Anderson said it would cost more money to spread out like that and that the Arcadia bridge and road would be one project proj-ect and the Tabiona bridge and road would be one project. Mr. Lamb explained that the county commissioners had agreed previously pre-viously that Bridgeland - Upalco would be the No. 1 project after the Blue Bench project. Mr. Young stated that he would vote for the Bridegland-Upalco to be No. 1. Mr. Mickelson, thereupon, said he would make it his choice also, which would make the decision unanimous. After some discussion, it was agreed that the Bridgeland-Upalco road and bridge would be No. 1 and the Tabiona bridge and road would be No. 2. It was suggested that it might be well to wait for a third project but the three following fol-lowing short roads, were considered: consid-ered: Mt. Home south to present oil; Altonah to Altamont; and Bluebell to Altamont. Mr. Anderson gave the commis-I commis-I sioners the following daily road car counts: Bridgeland - Upalco, 135;Golden Stairs, 105; Tabiona, 190; Upalco - Bluebell. 75; Alta- mont-Altonah, 260; Tabiona Junction, Junc-tion, 275; Neola-Whiterocks, 450. He said that both the Tabiona and Arcadia bridges were engineered but that Tabiona had been designed; design-ed; that the Tabiona bridge would cost about $50,000 and the Arcadia Ar-cadia about $60,000. He said that of the twelve million dollars spent on the federal aid secondary system sys-tem in the state, the federal gov- I ernment .paid eight and one-half million and the state four million, or in other words about 70-30 ratio. That 70 of this was distributed dis-tributed on a population basis and the remaining 30 was placed according to need. The clerk was asked to request the State Road Commission to place Highway No. 54 and the Bluebell-Altamont roads on the federal aid secondary system. It was unanimously decided to go i along with Uintah County when they get ready for the road to be built from Neola east across the county line to the Whiterocks road. |
