Show Golden Wedding Anniversary !s Observed By The Levi Andcrtons Observing their Golden Wedding Wed-ding anniversary on Friday, Feb. 13, were Mr. and Mrs. Levi J. Anderton, who were honored at an open house celebration, cele-bration, held at the Duchesne stake house between the hours of 8:00 and 11:30 p.m. The honored couple greeted friends in the foyer, where a lace-covered table was centered with a beautiful three-tiered white wedding cake with a gold "50" inscribed on the top, White tapers completed the decoration. dec-oration. Mrs. Anderton was presented with a corsage and Mr. Anderton Ander-ton with a boutonniere, by the i Duchesne L.D.S. stake presidency presiden-cy and Relief Society and the ward organizations, which also presented them with a beautiful bedspread and a set of dishes. Master of ceremonies for the social event was J. Rulon Anderton, An-derton, of Roosevelt, who also gave a resume of his parents' lives. I The following program was I presented during the evening: vocal solo, "Anniversary Song," by Janice Anderton; vocal duet, "Silver Threads Among the Gold," Mrs. Dewey Jessen and Mrs. Reay Jessen of Altonah; remarks by Bishop O. A. Richardson, Rich-ardson, of Salt Lake City, formerly for-merly of Montwel; remarks, James Bacon; piano solo, Mrs. Leah Davis; a talk, Hale Hol-gate, Hol-gate, president of the Duchesne stake; piano solo, Janice Anderton; Ander-ton; remarks, Porter Merrill, bishop of the Duchesne ward; brief remarks, Wm. Bond, of Heber City, and Francis Todd, of Bountiful; 2 organ solos, Daniel Dan-iel Anderton, of Salt Lake City, and a vocal solo, "When You Were Sweet Sixteen,' by Mrs. Dewey Jessen. Concluding the program was a floor show dance number by girls of the Duchesne ward. Refreshments were served to the approximate 300 guests by the stake presidency and stake Relief Society. Mr. Anderton was born in Monroe, Sevier County, Utah, in 1882, the son of Levi and Josephine Anderton. In 1903 he married Rocinda Jensen, and moved to Kimberly, a gold mining min-ing camp. They resided there for a few years and then moved to Austin, where Mr. Anderton worked in the sugar factory. In 1917. they came to the Basin and lived in Cedarview, where they engaged in farming. They i movd to Duchesne in 1935, where Mr. Anderton was county I assessor for twelve years and ' bishop of the ward for nine years. He was then ordained a stake patriarch, a position he still holds. Rocinda Jensen Anderton was born in Elsinore, Sevier County, Coun-ty, Utah in 1884, the daughter of James B. and Elizabeth Jensen. Jen-sen. She has been active in L. D.S. church work in the Primary, Pri-mary, Relief Society and Mutual. Mu-tual. She has been a visiting teacher for twenty-seven years. The Andertons are the parents par-ents of eight children, six of whom are living. They are: Neil Anderton, Daniel J. Anderton and Blanche Asmus, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. E. A. Call, My-ton; My-ton; Rulon Anderton, Roosevelt; and Mrs. Ray BroWn, Monarch They have 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Another son, Arden Anderton, Ander-ton, who would have been the oldest son, died at the age ofi five years from spinal menin-1 gitis; Joseph Anderton, another son, who served with the U. S. Air Corps in the Philippines, was reported missing in action and in 1942 his death was confirmed. |
