Show SEASONAL CHATTER By Sugar 'N Spice SOME OF THE PRETTIEST Spring hats have a picture book look. Some are large and some are small it's the lace, chiffon or satin folds that give the felts and straws such lady-like airs. LOMAN HUTCHINGS gave us a good one the other day: It seems to me there never is a day There isn't some collection underway. They always have good reasons, rea-sons, I'll agree; But I wish just once they'd take one up for me. HAVE NEVER SEEN Millie Stevens look lovelier. Her white knit suit is certainly becoming to her. Spied her through the door at the Grill the other night. DASH INTO SATHER'S Jewelry Jew-elry next time you round the corner and take a glance at the attractive wall paper. . . right good taste, we'd say. HEARD BY THE GRAPEVINE GRAPE-VINE that Janice Nielson of Union, who was crowned Uintah Uin-tah Basin Sweetheart, designed her own dress for the special occasion. We think she should take up a desiging career her dress was adorable and the old rose net over the changeable taffeta was very flattering, enhancing en-hancing Janice's lovely complexion complex-ion and hair. HERE'S ONE FOR RIPLEY Flowers in February in Roosevelt! Roose-velt! Sor.-esne -told us that the Marvel Neilsons were shocked when they noticed two yellow Crocus flowers in bloom at the south side of their house this week. In fact, Marvell even forgot for-got they had planted the bulbs last fall. We're of the opinion that that would have been impossible im-possible last year. Could be, Spring is ust around the corner. WE HEARD THAT STYLE and fashion were' really on parade par-ade at the Junior Culture Club party last Friday night. The semi-formal affair really must have been fun, and we've heard several comments on the new dresses . . . ALICE AYCOCK really looked lovely in her new black tafetta with white lace insets at the bodice and a big rose at the waistline. We were also informed that ROSE MARIE MA-RIE COOK was wearing a dusty blue satin and net ballerina length formal which really did things for her and SHIRLEY 1 MURDOCK'S paper taffeta cocktail dress with brown and white diamond pattern was just made for h:r. TUDOR LAB-RUM'S LAB-RUM'S new misty blue formal matched her blue eyes to perfection per-fection - and JEAN STRING-HAM STRING-HAM wore an adorable drop-shoulder drop-shoulder rich blue velvet very stunning. SAW A GROUP of Socialette members at the Myton dance Saturday night. The white carnation car-nation boutonnieres in their husbands' lapels made us think there had been a party somewhere some-where prior to the dance. Let us in on these things, girls. I LA RAE McCONKIE was very cute in her self-designed, full-length white formal at the Sweetheart Ball, and ELAINE McKENNA wore yellow net over pale green. It was full-length full-length with an accordion pleated pleat-ed skirt and very becoming to her. LOOKING SIMPLY adorable in their purple squaw dresses were Linda and Leslie Schmiett and Nancy Harrison. SPRING IS IN THE AIR this was evident to us when we saw MAXINE HURLEY wearing wear-ing a new biege shorty tweed coat with clever swing back. Real pretty, Maxine. LOVELY IN HER full-skirted black taffeta with V-shaped neckline is Eva Haas, of Fort Duchesne. ' THE BANK GIRLS did it again EDITH HARDINGER and MARY KELSEY are both flashing new diamonds seems to be a fad around that place . . . No wonder the girls are clamoring for bank jobs. A FEW TIPS ON pie pastry making: Use a pastry blender for cutting in fat; a fork seems best for mixing in water. Never stretch pastry; make several slits in top crust to allow steam to escape. |
