Santa Claus will not be there this year. We had a band concert today. It was' presented by the Union High School. S - N Here is a Christmas story written writ-ten in our class: THE JOYFUL CHRISTMAS John Dye was in the Children's Hospital, because he had polio, and he was an orphan. He had been in the hospital for a month. It was almost Christmas now, and Johnny was sad. There were other boys in the hospital for him to play with, but he was sad, for he had no one to give him presents. pres-ents. One day the nurse came in with a little tree and set it up on a little table. Then she started to put decorations on it. The children all watched. Then a boy spoke' up and said: "My mother gets us a great, big tree every year." The n.u r s e answered: "We haven't enough money to get every room a big tree." The children were all quietly watching the nurse when Johnny started to cry. The nurse hurried over to him and: asked: "What is the' matter Johnny?" But Johnny did not answer. "Please tell me what is the matter," mat-ter," said the nurse. Then Johnny told her why he was so unhappy, "I haven't any mother to give me' presents," he sobbed. Then the nurse said: "Don't cry Johnny, Santa Claus will bring you some toys." That made Johnny feel better. On Christmas Eve the boys were telling stories about Christmas Christ-mas when the nurse came in and said: "You had better turn the light off so Santa Claus will hurry and come." The next morning the-children the-children woke up bright and early to see' what Santa Claus brought them. Johnny got everything he wanted for Christmas, and so did the other children. It was wonderful, wonder-ful, and they all. had fun that Christmas. By Linda McArthur S - N From Mrs. Buchanan's room Me, oh my! What am I? Me, oh my! Am I a pie? Me, oh my! Am I a lie? Me, or my!
