Home Demonstration Agent For County County Agents' Report Is filed For 1955 Program ' People Design Program; Committees Meet The annual report of the Duchesne Du-chesne County home demonstration agent and agricultural agent shows that more people are taking advantage ad-vantage of the help provided through the extension service. Extension Ex-tension service agents in this county coun-ty are Mary Lois' Reichert and Robert S. Murdock, who maintain offices in Roosevelt and Duchesne. Farm or home visits by the agents ag-ents during the past year totaled 1,757; office calls received were 1,026; and telephone calls recorded numbered 2,558. To better acquaint the public with the aid available to them through the extension service, the county agents prepared' 293 news stories and prepared and made 61 radio broadcasts. In this county', 3,752 bulletins were distributed, and nine adult result demonstrations demonstra-tions were conducted. Train Leaders Training meetings held for local leaders during the year included five in adult work with 45 attending; attend-ing; six in 4-H Club work, with 115 in attendance. Other meetings the agents held or participated in were 136 meetings meet-ings in adult work with total attendance at-tendance of 2,333; 67 meetings in connection with young men's and women's work, with 1,069 in attendance; at-tendance; 109 4-H Club meetings with 2,640 in attendance. The fiscal year for extension service work begins Nov. 1 and ends Oct. 31. Central Planning Group Duchesne County's extension program for 1955 was designed by the people of the county. The central planning group is called the Duchesne County Advisory Council and it consists of farmers and homemakers elected by representatives rep-resentatives of community and commodity committees. The members mem-bers are: W. C. Foy, Duchesne, president; Charles Jensen, Arcadia, vice-president; Leon Burton, Tal-mage, Tal-mage, secretary-treasurer; Robert S. Murdock, advisor; Mary Lois J Reichert. Roosevelt, advisor. Area representatives are: Keith Lemon, Myton; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Curry, -Hanna; Mr. and Mrs, Kermit Poul-son, Poul-son, Duchesne; Mr. and Mrs. J. Alma Smith, Bridgel'and; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Olsen, Neola;, Mrs. Merle- Ross, Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. E. Max Hartman, Altamont; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Allen, Myton; Floyd E. Lamb, Roosevelt; Lyle L. Young, Mt. Emmons and Clinton J. Mickelson, Duchesne, county commissioners. Met Twice In '55 The above' committee met two times during the year of 1955 for program planning. Their first meeting was to review the suggested sug-gested extension activities as were submitted by the' area representatives. representa-tives. The second meeting was to recommend the project work for the extension agents and to hear a report of the "Better Farming for Better Living Families in the County." These families are the Richard Olsen family of Neola and the Kermit Poulson family of Duchesne, Du-chesne, both area representatives. |
