Show School Commences At Alterra School commenced at Alterra on Tuesday, with Spencer Squire as principal, Mrs. Martha Knight, Miss Hannah Richards and two other lady teachers, of Vernal, Mrs. Paul Nelson, Mrs. Cecil Chivers, Mrs. Delbert Hor-rocks, Hor-rocks, Mrs. Bert Burgess, Junior Hicks and Sam Hemingway as teachers. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Mo'wry and two children, of Todd's Park, spent the Labor Day week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Angus Anderson. Sunday dinner guests at the home of the An-J dersons were the Mowrys, Mr. ' and Mrs. Harden Labrum and I family, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Anderson and family and Mrs. Vada Eaton. I Mark Rasmussen, who is stationed sta-tioned with the armed forces in ! California, paid a very short visit at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Rasmus-sen, Rasmus-sen, recently. Dean Betts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Betts, is employed employ-ed at Rawlings, Wyo. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Bracken and two sons, of Roosevelt; Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle and family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bracken and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bracken enjoyed a weiner and marsh-mallow marsh-mallow roast at the Bracken home last Thursday evening. The occasion was to get together togeth-er before Lynn left for the Mission Mis-sion Home. Beatrice Angus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus, accompanied ac-companied Mr. and Mrs. Harold Timothy and two daughters to Salt Lake City on Saturday, to go to the State Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Betts accompanied ac-companied Mr. and Mrs. Karl Betts of Roosevelt, to Salt Lake City to spend the weekend. Mrs. Alden White cared for the two children of the Karl Betts.' Mr. and Mrs. Grant Williams, of Panguitch, were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wen-del Wen-del Johnson one day last week. Mrs. Williams is the former June Manwaring, a former member mem-ber of the Ballard ward. Norman Mangum, who is in the Navy, and is stationed at Jacksonville, Florida, is enjoying enjoy-ing a leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Squire Mangum. Normatn, accompany ied by his mother, made a trip to Cortez, Colo, while he was home. Sunday was 100 in Sunday School. There is 222 enrolled and 234 were present. Mr. and Mrs. Mont S. Poul-son Poul-son and daughter, Joan, of Duchesne, Du-chesne, were down to attend the farewell party for Lynn Bracken on Friday evening. Mrs. Poulson is a sister of Mrs. George Bracken and Russel Todd. Mrs. Straussie Birchell and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Birchell and children, of Vernal, were visitors visi-tors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shisler last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Birchell visited vis-ited at the home of Mrs. Birch-ell's Birch-ell's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ed-gar Womack, at Independence. Mr. and Mrs. Falph Lemon and family, of Grantsville, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire last week. Dinner guests on Sunday, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bracken and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bracken. Mrs. Jess Butcher and Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Butcher attended at-tended the 60th wedding anniversary anni-versary of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Southam at Vernal one day last week. I Mrs. Beatrice Lundberg is teaching a class in Sunday School now. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bracken left Monday morning for Salt Lake City. He will enter the Mission Home on Wednesday, and will spend Tuesday visiting relatives and friends. Lynn hes been employed at the Larsen Bottling Works during the summer. |
