Show County Inspector Of Brands Attends Meeting George Taylor, Duchesne county brand inspector, was among those attending a meeting meet-ing of the State Livestock Brand Advisory Board held August 22 in the office of Alden K. Barton, chairman of the State Board of Agriculture. Attending also were representatives of the Fish and Game Department. Coming out of the meeting was unanimous decision to enforce en-force the Utah Livestock Brand and Anti-Theft Act, as amended by the 1951 legislature. It was also agreed between the brand board and the fish and game officials, of-ficials, along with the Utah Highway Patrol and Commissioner Commis-sioner Barton, to run blockades throughout the state to check trucks and cars for illegal hauling haul-ing of meat, either domestic or game. The law, as amended, gives brand inspectors, county sheriffs and highway patrolmen authority to stop and search any car or truck suspected of transporting trans-porting stolen meat or game. Any truckers hauling livestock must have livestock inspected before leaving a brand district. If they are found violating the law, they will be punished in full accordance with the law. At 11 a. m. brand inspectors from all over the state met with Commissioner Barton and the Brand Board. Problems pertaining pertain-ing to brand inspection and enforcement en-forcement of the brand law were discussed. Slaughtering cattle in unsanitary slaughterhouses and out in the open was discussed. It was agreed to prosecute any slaughterer butchering livestock for sale or as a business other than in a licensed slaughterhouse. |
