Show Centerville council takes oath of office By TOM HARALDSEN CENTERVILLE Incumbent Bruce Erickson, acting councilman Michael Barton and newcomer Nancy Gibbs were all administered oaths of office by Centerville Justice of the Peace Jerald Jensen during ceremonies in council chambers. Erickson was elected to a second four-year term in November, Novem-ber, while Barton and Gibbs were the other top vote-getters. Barton has been finishing the unexpired term of Judge Jensen, . who stepped down to take the J. P. post in September. Mayor Dean Argyle welc6med all three to the council, and particularly praised Erickson "for his willingness to serve this city for another four years." He also took the opportunity to praise city administrator David Hales for his hard work and efforts. Later in the meeting, each councilman was given assignments with various committees in the city. Councilman Doug Nielsen will work with finance and personnel, Councilwoman Gibbs with parks and recreation, Councilman Kent Lindsey with planning plan-ning and zoning, Councilman Erickson with public safety, and Councilman Barton with public works. In addition, Councilman Lindsey will remain as the city's representative on the administrative adminis-trative board of the county's burn plant. |
