SOUNDPHOTO Back in the air only a few weeks after winning a courageous fight for life, following the crash of an experimental airplane he was solo testing, Howard Hughes, noted aviator, aircraft designer and builder, piloted his plane, a converted B-23 toward New York. Still bearing evidence of burns and critical -injuries, Hughes climbed out of his sick-bed, got into his plane and took off suddenly to challenge revocation of the seal of approval on his controversial, record-breaking motion picture, "The Outlaw."
