Show Media City Hews Section ; M-Mcn -Gleaner Banquet The M-Men and Gleaner girls of the Neola MIA held their annual an-nual banquet in the Relief society soc-iety rooms last Thursday evening, even-ing, A color scheme of red, white and blue was carried out in the take decorations. During the evening the following follow-ing program was presented: saxaphone solo, H. Bartley Hein-er; Hein-er; reading, Elva Allred; clan-net clan-net solo, Wendell Duncan; vocal solo, Glenda Halverson; theme was led by M I A presiden, Marion Mar-ion Harrison; toastmistress, Vel-ma Vel-ma Burton. Committees were as follows: General chairman, Reta Hutcheon; decorations, Jerry Spencer, refreshments. Louise Mills, Maxine Gardner, Max Horrocks, program, Betty Harrison and Neil Jensen; dance Evan Olsen. Special guests included in-cluded ward officers and Mr. and Mrs. H. Bartley Heiner of Roosevelt. After the banquet, a public dance was held. Prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jensen for the wait and Max and Minola Horrocks for the fox-trot. Girl Scouts Meet Miss Marjorie Gardner was hostess to the Girl scouts at her home last Wednesday evening. The time was spent in business pertaining to the organization, after which delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served to the girls and their leaders, Mrs. Beth Shoell and Mrs. LaRae Rhoades. Home on Furlough Allen Harrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Harrison, arrived ar-rived home last Sunday for a few days visit with his parents. Allen has been in training at San Diego, California. Entertains Friends Miss Othea Duncan entertained entertain-ed a number of young friends at her home last Sunday afternoon. The time was spent in games, after af-ter which refreshments were enjoyed. en-joyed. Celebrates Birthday Miss Ann Peterson celebrated her eighth birthday last Sunday with a party at her home for her school mates. After enjoy- ing games, refreshments were served by her mother, Mrs. Thurman Peterson. Home on Visit WAC Audrey Gardner, daugh ter of Bishop and Mrs. Rex Gardner, Gard-ner, arrived last week from Ft. Riley, Kansas for a three-week furlough. She left Friday for San Francisco, California, where she will spend a short time with her brother, Dahl, who is in the Navy and whom she has not seen for three years. After visiting visit-ing there with her brother and aunt, Mrs. Ora Campbell, Audrey Aud-rey will return to Neola for a few days before going back to her work as a truck driver. Upholstering Class Held Under the supervision of County Demonstrator, Bernice Palfreyman, several women of Neola have been engaged in renovating ren-ovating upholstered furniture, during the past week. Clashes were held in the basement of the chapel, and many partially worn-out pieces of furniture were really made "better than new", under the skillful fingers of their owners, aided by the supervision of Miss Palfreyman. Walter Horrocks of Clevenah, Washington, spent a few days here last week visiting relatives and friends. Mrs. Deon Spencer and daughter, daugh-ter, Janice spent the latter part of the week visiting in Spring-ville Spring-ville with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Horrocks and family spent a few days last week in Salt Lake City. Three new ward officers have recently been chosen: Mrs. Viola Horrocks as president of the Primary, Pri-mary, Roy Gardner as Boy Scoutmaster and Max Horrocks as secretary for the Y M M I A. Horace Colthorp and Royal Horrocks made a business trip to points outside of the Uintah Basin Ba-sin last week. |
