Show Rough Wdleirs Take BivSsSomi Cage Title RKSChalksUp Impressive Record In Leaglie Play THE Roosevelt High school Rough Riders galloped to the divisional di-visional championship last Friday Fri-day night by winning over Uintah Uin-tah High, 37-24. It was a long awaited win around the Rough Rider stables and about time, for in the last race with Uintah, I Roosevelt High finished up on the short end of the scoreboard, 31-30. Now the championship is in the bag and there is some easy breathing in the City of the Great Theodore. Despite the impressive record of nine wins out of ten games played, RHS has not had the easy road such a record might indicate. indi-cate. Uintah has been a threat throughout-the season, and Duchesne Du-chesne something more than a threat . it was just two weeks ago that the boys from down Highway- 40 had the Roosevelt fans scared still for a half a game at least. But the season is over and the Riders are packing their bags preparatory to making the jaunt to Zion for the state tournament. At Salt Lake Roosevelt will meet some stiff competition, stiffer than anything thus far offered, but the local cagers are good perhaps as good as anything that will be invading Salt Lake next week. Only next week will tell. y MEANWHILE the donation bag has been passed and Roosevelt Roose-velt businessmen, with their usual us-ual regularity, except in one case, have dished out the shillings shill-ings freely. After turning back Uintah, the Rough Rider coach, Don Crittenden, was advised that , the state would allow expenses V, " . for only ten members of the.,- ' ' team to travel to Salt Lake. This - : was just not good around town, particularly with Prime Jacobs and George Pulos. These two enthusiasts en-thusiasts passed the platter, and now it looks like the Rough Riders Rid-ers will trot into Salt Lake en-masse. en-masse. Coach Crittenden, Wednesday, extended a grateful thanks to local business firms and individuals individ-uals for their making it possible for the full team to make the Salt Lake trip. As a matter of record, here are some of the salient points concerning con-cerning the Roosevelt High school baskcteers this year: they have won 9 games and lost 1; in ten games they have scored a total of 319 points against 217.
