The annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Uintah ' River Irrigation company was held in Gusher last Saturday, and the following officers elected: Alex Duvall, president; Hyrum Dom-gaard, Dom-gaard, vice-president; A. D. Semken, secretary-treasurer, and Stan Mahoney, Fred Schwabe and John Hacking, directors. University of Utah Alumni from the Uintah Basin heard Professor Williams discuss Basin geology at an organization meeting meet-ing last Saturday night. The organization meeting, which followed the Professor's speech, saw Afton Harrison elected president, Erl Dillman, 1st vice president; Fred Ferron, 2nd vice president; ' Marcia Bourne, secretary and Bert Gardner, treasurer. Pete Hunt arrived in Roosevelt Tuesday afternoon with his newly acquired plane a ship dug out of the deep snow of the Uintas. Reports have it that the plane has been battered into a rather serious condition by the winds. Pete and Marley Hamblin beat their way to the plane on i snowshoes, and dismantled it. Later Pete moved in with a horse and a pair of skids to haul it out. r The plane is at the Roosevelt airport. A district conference of the American ' Legion was held in Roosevelt Wednesday evening with representatives from Carbon, Duchesne, Uintah, San Juan and Daggett counties present Also present were District Commander Jack Forrester, of Price, and District Adjutant Dal Young, also of Price. Commander Young stated that the Legion is starting on the largest member- M9 drlveln its history, -and emphasized the .critical period now faced by America. At the meeting Past District Commander Martin Curtis was presented with a Past Commander's pin and award.
