The unit"a 705 horsepower motor, is the first part of a standby stand-by electrical plant scheduled for Roosevelt. The generator and switchboard for the above power producer are reported to be enroute to Roosevelt. Their arrival and subsequent attachment tp the Alco motor is expected to sweeten an unsavory power situation situa-tion growing out of repeated failures of UP&L's generators at the mouth of Uinta canyon. The pictured Alco is capable of driving a generator to the tune of 490 KW's. In connection with the installation of the Roosevelt stand-by unit, UP&L has announced that it will undertake a revamping program for its distribution system. To date the company has set new poles along those portions of its system where depleted equipment equip-ment has been responsible for inumerable powerfailures. Ralph Heath, electrical engineer from General Electric, is j currently engaged in studying the local power picture and mak-' mak-' ing recommendations for its improvement. |
