Show Local Fliers CompBete Unit Trip To Denver Combining work and pleasure. Instructors and students fronj the Roosevelt Flying Service last Sunday flew to Denver, Colorado, Colo-rado, In the group's first crp'ss country hop as a flying unit operating op-erating under CAA rules. To fly under the CAA it Is necessary that each ship be reported re-ported to a district office, and a scheduled flight plan submitted. If the plane fails to report at each scheduled stop within reasonable rea-sonable time, the CAA dispatches search planes. Failure on the part of a pilot to report according accord-ing to his flight schedule results in disciplinary action. Also, each plane is assigned a specified altitude at which it Is to fly, radio communication is maintained and a prescribed course must be flown. The Roosevelt Flying Service cross-country flight was scheduled sched-uled to provide training in CAA methods and rules, radio, compass com-pass headings, deviations and the correct approaches to unfamiliar landing fields. Enrouto the group of four planes landed at Rock Springs, Rawlins. Laramie and Fort Collins. Col-lins. All but Fort Collins were regular stops, but a sudden storm necessitated the landing there. The return trip was made Tuesday with a retrace of the eastbound flight. A successful trip was reported, with the flying fly-ing service records showing "mission accomplished." Those accompanying flight-instructor Joe Mower on the trio were Matt Foley. Duane Hacking, Hack-ing, Prime Jacobs, Willys Lowry, Reed McClellan, Merlin Reynolds Rey-nolds and Bcnnic Schmiett. |
