Show SIXTH A wo MEMO value of sugar beet by pro ducts in fattening lambs is demonstrated more than a hundred sheep men of sevier county and surrounding communities gathered at monroe saturday for the sixth annual monroe lamb iamb feeders celebration which concluded another interesting demonstration of the value of sugar beet products byproducts by in fattening lambs at the feed yards of the utah idaho sugar co near their sugar factory where the demonstration was conducted for days by moroni jensen of the sugar company and E J maynard experimental feeder for the utah state agricultural college the sheep men viewed the progress made by lambs placed on different feed rations in four groups of special interest was vas the net return per lamb which was 78 cents in the lot fed barley alfalfa and salt 82 cents in the lot fed barley beet molasses alfalfa and salt 88 cents sn in the lot fed barley dried molasses pulp alfalfa and salt land and 88 cents in the lot fed barley alfalfa salt and pellets a combination of molasses pulp and bone mea meal I 1 A record of costs and rations has been compiled and copies of it may be obtained from the office of the county agent S R boswell the feed yards of cleve winget were visited by the sheep men before they went to the demonstration yards and immediately following the trip there they returned to monroe for a roast lamb lunch at the north ward relief society hall the lunch was served at long tables with places for guests it was under direction of a committee from the monroe lamb feeders association with dan larsen as chairman program numbers during the luncheon were violin duets by max larsen and barbara and vocal solos by eldon tuft toasts were given by a number of visiting officials included in the group of officials and special visitors at the luncheon were F R marshal of salt lake secretary of the national Wool growers association S M jorgensen president and J A hooper secretary of the utah Wool growers association joseph johnson of salt lake representing the national wool marketing association mr tompkins freight manager of the D R G railroad george holman of salt lake representing the biolo biological cical survey J H manderfield manager of the salt lake union stockyards stock yards dr F E murray of salt lake representing the brunau of animal industry and in charge of livestock diseases abe hansen president of the fish lake Wool growers association cia tion moroni jensen representing the utah idaho sugar co E J maynard of the U S A C S R boswell county agent and J F ogden president of the sevier county farm bureau the visitors from outside of the county were free in their praise of the work being accomplished J H manderfield then expressed his appreciation of the demonstrations and e experiments conducted in the county in a letter sent to mr boswell tuesday |
