Show richfield definitely assured of black hawk encampment august 8 to 11 of this th I 1 s year preparations begin to take care of visitors warner is captain the definite announcement that the annual black hawk encamp ment will be held in richfield next august 8 9 10 and 11 brings great rejoicing in this community while the richfield post had been practically assured of this encampment last summer still there was a statement in the salt lake papers recently that ogden was bidding for the convention I 1 A delegation from richfield armed with petitions and invitations and headed by mayor W L L warner president of the local black hawk camp went to spanish fork tuesday to attend the big celebration there and present their cause other members of the party from here included R D young A J fillmore mr and mrs chas dean bean and W W buchanan the last named is a member of the state organization it is the custom at this annual meeting for the executive board to select the place and set the dates of the summer encampment rich fields claim for this honor met with practically no opposition and the local delegation was advised to start preparations to take care of at least visitors during these four days in august mayor warner and president young both were on the program for talks and extended a cordial invitation for the organization to visit richfield and mayor warner wamer advised them not to plan to limit their stay to four days if they wished to make the best of the trip to this historic scenic and recreational center he stated that one of the most important battles in the black hawk war was fought in the black hills near sigurd and that the treaty of peace was signed near koosharem Koo sharem wem both of which spots the delegates want to visit no now w that it is certain that richfield ifield is to entertain this vast crowd of people the richfield post of sons and daughters of utah pioneers and indian war veterans will set the machinery in motion immediately to make adequate preparations to do justice to the occasion the lot around the old armory building will be set aside as the camping place for the visitors and mayor warner says that they probably will string some lights and put in water hydrants for their convenience the richfield post has a membership of approximately 75 even though it is less than a year old officers include W li warner captain H J hansen first lieutenant mrs sarah peterson J B morrison sr and mrs laura jensen this encampment win will be not only of distinct fin financial 3 caal benefit to the community but will serve to advertise this section to the rest of the state |
