Show DIES ff 10 HOME HEHE ON MOND y funeral services being held today in the first ward mrs jennie gordon graham young 81 widow of the late william G young succumbed to heart trouble at her home here early monday afternoon six weeks ago mrs young became ill and for the past five weeks was confined to her bed mrs youngs life was one of service to her family and friends and was replete with experiences coincident to early pioneer life in utah site she was born in glasgow scotland march 8 1851 a daughter of robert dundass graham and margaretta burns graham with her parent converts of tile the L D S church she immigrated to utah arriving in salt lake city october 8 1863 when she was eleven years of age she walked the entire distance across the plains her father died about a month after their arrival in salt lake and being one of the eldest children she assisted her mother in the care of tile the family on november 25 1873 she avas was married to william G young in in the endowment house in salt lake city shortly after the birth of their first child a boy born bom april 9 1877 they were called to help settle arizona in company compan y with other immigrants they left salt lake city january 25 1878 using cows and oxen to pull their wagons many hardships were su suffered r during the journey and their baby died before they reached their destination they returned to utah the next fall and settled in richfield here five children were born to them tile the youngest child being only three months old when the father was seriously injured while working in tile the mountains resulting in his death within a year after raising her own family mrs young took care of four of her grandchildren whose mother died sixteen years ago S surviving r 1 i ving are one son and one I 1 dauna daughter 1 I t er A W young and mis jane Y both of richfield 17 grandchildren 7 cicat grandchildren one birther bi other james graham of salt lake city and two misters zi mrs jack erickson 0 f salt lake lae city and mis mary casto of murray funeral services will be held this afternoon in the first ward chapel |
