| Show LM 0 FEEDING experiment S IN COUNT 1300 lambs on experimental feeding at delta lamb feeders of sevier county will be interested in a lamb feeding experiment peri ment which will be conducted at a t delta by the utah agricultural experiment peri ment station under the immediate supervision of dean K C ikeler on wednesday november 13 the experiment was started with appropriate exercises at the stearns steams ranch near delta A W crail man of the monroe lamb feeders j association and county agent S R boswell attended in behalf of the lamb feeders of sevier county no program was carried out the lamb feeders and students of the various high schools gathered at the stearns steams ranch and witnessed the grading of the lambs by professors A C esplin and H H smith there will be approximately 1300 lambs included in othis experiment the outline oi of the experiment is as follows lot 1 full fed alfalfa and barley check ration alfalfa hay handfuls hand full fed twice daily plus whole barley plus block salt and water at free will lot 2 A shelled corn com grain ration same as check lot 1 except ex capt that which shelled corn s second cond grade jrade substituted for whole barley lot 3 cottonseed meal same as check lot 1 plus ohe one fifth 15 1 5 pound of cottonseed cake per head daily when on full feed lot 4 purina feed same as chieck lot 1 plus purina lamb chow lot 5 quaker oats same as check lot 1 plus quaker oats lot 6 alfalfa chaff and cottonseed cake same as check lot 1 except alfalfa chaff substituted for alfalfa hay and plus one fifth 15 1 5 pound of cottonseed cake per lead head daily lot loi 7 alfalfa chaff and purina puria feed same as check lot 1 except alfalfa chaff substituted for alfalfa hay and plus purina feed lot 8 alfalfa chaff and quaker oats same as heck check lot 1 except alfalfa chaff substituted for alfalfa hay and plus quaker oats lot 9 A change from alfalfa chaff to alfalfa hay same as check lot 1 except chaff substituted for hay bay the first fifty days and plus one fifth 15 1 5 pound cottonseed cake per head daily lot 10 barley straw whole barley and cottonseed cake same as check lot 1 except barley straw substituted for alfalfa hay and plus one fifth 15 1 5 pound of cottonseed cake per head daily lot 11 A change from barley straw to alfalfa hay same as lot 10 except alfalfa hay substituted for barley straw after the first fifty f f ty days lot 12 heavy pelted belted wr inkley lambs same ration as check lot 1 lot 13 black faced lambs same ration as check lot 1 hay is per ton in the delta section but it is of poor quality delta has also the advantage of being on a main line railroad there are probably six or eight lamb feeders in that section while in sevier county there are about one hundred |
