| Show WHOSE F FAULT AULT IS IT to learn of a peculiar lac lack k 0 of f t tact act happened we in the last few days the younger set of our school children and manners among especially and junior high school while the girls as w well ell as boys in the upper grades had bad advertised a certain better we little high school students show up a bringing a coupon clipped from our puzzle tree free 0 of charge to every child columns and after those who had signed their coupon had received theirs we announced that the puzzles will he be given while they last to every child requesting one the kids small and hig big responded most freely and in ili numbers not a single one of 0 the children going to school they came in great said good morning or another word 0 of salutation 1 I want a puzzle was all they said no please and nothing simply 1 I want a puzzle and when they had it out they went without a word of thanks not even closing the door the only one thanking after receipt was a little girl who we judge from her size is a student of one A we were quite surprised by this obvious lack of manners and this the more as xe we found out that the lack is general among the children we happened to be in the school board office when a girl who again judging from her size must be in the junior high school brought an invoice irom her father and received a check she took the check without a word of thanks and left the office without saying good bye while tact is something that must be born with a person manners and politeness is something that can be learned and can be taught the children of this city according to the observations we made since have not learned it and this brings near the thought that they are not L taught aught it not in school and not in the homes we do not know whether this is the fault of the parents or the fault 0 of the teachers but we know it is fault and we think it would be in the interest of the community if our children would learn better manners would it not be worth while to take the matter up in one of the meetings of the home and school league |
