Show Lefty O'Doul Is Back as Giant Outfielder Frank O'Da-ul's coming tryout with the New York Giants will be watched with much interest by all followers of baseball. He is coming back as an outfielder with a good chance of sticking stick-ing this time, almost ten years after bis first opportunity to become a major ma-jor leaguer. O'Doul was a pitcher when the Yankees Yan-kees brought him up and he had all the mannerisms of a great ball player. Miller Huggius insisted that O'Doul did not take his baseball seriously enough and that his pitching was not of major league grade. Later O'Doul was with the Red Sox and two years ago the Cuhs took him on option, but Joe McCarthy turned him back to the Coast. Last season O'Doul starred in the outfield, at the bat, on the bases, and, in fact, was j an all-around star. He won honors as I the most valuable player in the Coast j league. |
