Show Road Meeting Held at Ephraim Commissioners Slight Fairview On Roads - Representatives from Mt. Pleasant, Pleas-ant, Fairview,. Moroni,- Chester, Milburn, Mountainville, Oakville, Indianola, Ephraim and Manti', met Thursday evening in the Public Pub-lic Library at Ephraim in an effort to harmonize the various factions cf Sanpete County on a matter of highways as effected by highways 63 and 189. A. W. Thompson of Ephraim acted as chairman with Fred Ras-mussen Ras-mussen of Mt. Pleasant, secretary. The following resolution, to bo presented to the Commissioners of Sanpete County for further con sideration with the State highway commission, was adopted: "Resolved "Resolv-ed that this body go on record, requesting re-questing the commissioners of Sanpete San-pete County to ask the State Roaa Commission to make an immediate survey and start work on highway 39 between Fairview and Thistle, Utah, as quickly as funds are avail-' able." People of the east wing of North Sanpete feel that they have never been given due consideration in this matter, in proportion to the taxable property of that section. Beyond Fairview, this particular portion cf highway 89', following the first snowfall, is almost impassable and remains thus until the late months of Spring. Were it improved it would furn ish, a mucn shorter route North into Utah County as well as to the Thistle Junction connecting with the highway east into Carbon County. Then, too,' this route is a scenic one, adding to its attrac-, tiveness. Last Monday the State Road Com mission informed the Publisher cf The Pyramid that the people of North Sanpete residing on the east side of the valley have been badly neglected by the Commissioners of Sanpete County. Road 89 from Fairview to Indianola should be put under construction right away without delay. |
