Show MORONI i By Special Correspondence Mr. and Mrs. John Hardy of Springvilie were Moroni visitors last week. They came to attend funeral services of Mrs. Elsie Christensen, Mrs. Hardy's grandmother. grand-mother. Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Sorenson Christensen were held in the East ward chapel Saturday afternoon with Bishop John R. Blackham in charge. The choir s.-iiig "Come Come Ye Saints." "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "O My Father" with Mrs., Blaine Draper as organist. The prayers were offered by Urvin Gee and Soren C. Nielsen. The speakers were Orlando Bradley, Daniel Anderson, Elmer Lourtzen and Bishop Blackham. Special numbers were "Loved One Rest" a solo by Mrs. Elmo Irons, "Face to Face" a solo by Mrs. Wilford Tidwell, and a duet, "Jesus Lover of My Soul" by John Hardy and Bishop Blackham. Mrs. Christensen was Moroni's oldest citizen and pioneer. She was born in Denmark September 5, 1841, came to America in 18f.8 and to Moroni in 1860. Her mother mo-ther died when they landed in America. She has raised a large family pnd has four girls 'iving: Mrs. Myria Cloward, Icna, Idaho; Mrs Ella Larsen, Castle Dale, Utah. Mrs. Minnie Olsen, Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Vern Olsen of Moroni. She also has 58 grandchildren, 135 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She has endured all the hardships and trials of pioneer life and was a true Later Day Saint mother. Mr. and Mrs. Marlen Cloward are the proud parents of a baby girl born Tuesday, February 9 at Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Cloward was formerly Miss Mary Bjelke of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Urvin Morley entertained ihe Bridge club Friday evening Fifteen members were present. Mrs Leonard Anderson won high score prize and Miss Zelda Morley won the consolation prize. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Osier are the prcud grandparents of their first grandchild, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Blain of Spring City, j The mother was formerly Miss Nellie Osier of this city. |
