Show Sanpete 4-H Club Champions Return From Portland With Stott Monday evening last the Utah State Champion boys 4-H club demonstration demonstra-tion team, George Madsen and Royal Sorensen of Mt. Pleasant and County Agent C. O. Stott, together with Mrs. Stott returned home with added laurels laur-els from the competition at the Pacific International Livestock Show at Portland, Port-land, Oregon. The Sanpete entries together with the Utah Champion girls team, Marietta Nyman and Eva Bentler cf Cache County, again brought back to Utah the Camp Plum-mer Plum-mer Trophy Flag, which is the highest honor that can be brought to any state in the Northwest. This is three times out of four years that the Utah teams have won this distinction. The boys gave a "Wool Grading Demonstration" and won the highest score of any boys team. The flag is won each year by the state whose average av-erage score of both boys and girls team is the highest. The three highest high-est scoring states out of the six in the competition are as follows: Utah 94 y2 Montana 91 Oregon 90 Other states competing were, Idaho, Washington and Nevada. In the health contest, Utah entered two of the demonstration contestants, and made a very good showing, considering con-sidering that they were in competition with especially picked health champions cham-pions from the other states; with Royal Roy-al Sorenson taking third place In the beys entries and Marietta Nymsn took fourth place in the girls entries. The Utah delegation headed by Prof. D. P. Murray, State Club Leader, Lead-er, was extended every possible courtesy cour-tesy and were busy every minute attending at-tending meetings, banquets, tours, etc. Sears Roebuck & Company gave a banquet to the 400 club delegates; Montgomery Ward & Co. gave a luncheon lunch-eon and tour of their factory and a four hour bus tour of Portland, Oregon City and adjacent points of interest: the Port of Portland Transport Company Com-pany gave a three hour boat ride on the Columbia River; the Livestock Exposition Ex-position thru Manager O. M. Plum-rr.er Plum-rr.er gave two evenings entertainment at the night horse show program; the above and other features were extended extend-ed to the entire club delegations; the Utah winners were awarded gold medals med-als by Mr. Plummer and a fountain pen and pencil set by Montgomery Ward and Company, and together with Prcf. Murray were special guests of President W. F. Turner of the Spokane, Spo-kane, Portland and Seattle railway, at a dinner in his private car. The Utah boys and girls conducted themselves very creditably and dia justice in representing the other 4-H club members of our fair state, and the boys and girls at home may feel proud in having had such worthy representatives. represent-atives.
