Show Former Mayor, Civic Leader of Fairview Dies Sidney S. Sanderson, 59, prominent prom-inent Sanpete county merchant, church and civic leader, died at his home at Fairview Sunday forenoon of an organic ailment. Born in Fairview August 5, 1873, Mr. Sanderson rose to prominence in business and political circles during his life. He married Louise Peterson in 1894, and during the early years of his married life fulfilled an L. D. S. church mission in the southern south-ern states. He also served as president pres-ident of the L. D. S. Sunday school in Fairview, bishop's counselor coun-selor and other church positions. In 1910 Mr. Sanderson was e-leeted e-leeted a county commissioner of Sanpete county and in 1912 was :hosen to represent the county in the state legislature. He also .lad served as mayor of Fairview, postmaster post-master and councilman. During Che greater part ot his life he was In the mercantile business in Fairview. He is survived by four sons, S. D. Sanderson, Salt Lake; Golden, Winston and Blaine Sanderson, Fairview, and a daughter, Mildred Sanderson of Fairview; one brother, bro-ther, Henry W. Sanderson of Fair-view Fair-view and thre sisters, Mrs. Jordan H. Brady and Mrs. J. W. Christensen Chris-tensen of Fairview and Mrs. Hyrum Hy-rum Fescher of Salt Lake City. His wife died March 14, 1930 and his mother died February 13, 1932. Funeral services were held in the South ward chapel Tuesday at one p. m. with Bishop Peter Neil-son Neil-son in charge. The prayers were offered by H. P. Hansen and E H. Anderson. Music was by the combined ward choirs under the direction of H. P. Hansen. The speakers were John L Bench, who had labored as a missionary with him, A. A. John -son, George Olsen, Peter Sund-wall Sund-wall and Bishop Neilson. All spoke well of his life and labors, of his love for his family, and their sacrifice sac-rifice and devotion to him. Musical numbers included a solo so-lo "Just A WAA.mrinfr Vnr Vrtn" by Mrs. George Olsen and a duet by Peter Sundwall and H. P. Hansen, a duet by Jesse L. Young and Stanley Brady, and a vocal solo by Floyd Young. The choir sang "Rock of Ages" and Ruby Fescher gave a poem. Bishop Henry Jones dedicated the grave The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. |
