Show Professor and Mrs. C. L. Johns were hosts at dinner Sunday in honor hon-or of Dr. Mary Riggs Noble just prior to her departure for Salt Lake where Dr. Noble has delivered a series ser-ies of lectures during the week. J. R. Head of Bakersfield, Cal, will arrive the latter part of the week for a short visit with the A. S. Nilson families. Mrs. Head and little daughter, daugh-ter, Barbara Louise, who have been here the past month will return home with Mr. Head. Dr. Mary Riggs Noble of Colorado Springs, Colo., delivered several lectures lec-tures here last week to the girls of Wasatch Academy and also spoke ery interestingly to large audiences Saturday evening and Sunday morning. morn-ing. Her subjects deal with health and patriotism, speaking to the girls on "The Girls' Bit For Herself and Her Country." While in Mount Pleasant, Dr. Noble was a guest at the Wasatch Girls' Dormitory. Mrs. H. C. Beaumann and Miss Nettie Beaumann left Wednesday for Huntington, where Miss Nettie will teach this year. Glen Black, Ray Stocks and George Curtiss, former Wasatch students, stu-dents, but now in the Army, spent the week-end 'here with old friends and schoolmates. Ray Stocks ia at present stationed with' the hospital corps at Fort Russell, Wyoming, and Glen Black and George Curtiss are with the Utah Field Artillery at Fort Douglas. Miss Nettie Beaumann entertained at dinner Monday evening in compliment compli-ment to C. J. Rice of San Diego, Cal. Covers were laid for six. Miss Mollie Sargent visited friends here this week en route to her home : in Panguitch. Miss Sargent is returning re-turning from a visit with relatives in Chicago, 111. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cherry have as their guest, Mrs. M. L. Cauhwy. recently of Portland, Ore., but now-residing now-residing in Ogden, Utah. Miss Esther Norton was hostess at a beautifully appointed 12 o'clock luncheon Monday in honor of Glen Black and George' Curtiss, two former for-mer members of the Wasatch Graduating Grad-uating class who are now in the U. S. Army. The guests were former classmates of the honor guests and j the decorative scheme was carried out in the national colors. Denhalter and Mrs. Amasa Aldrich enlertained the Home Culture club Wednesday afternoon at the latter's home. The new president, presi-dent, Mrs. Abner Crane, gave a short address and the club historian, Mrs. J. W. Cherry, very interestingly reviewed re-viewed a history of the club sine.- its inception In 1909. Miss Melba Aid-rich Aid-rich sang "The Flag Without a Stain," and "Mother Machree." Andersen An-dersen will entertain the club at. thi.'r next meeting, October 3, at the home of Mrs. Andersen. The Woman's Society of the Presbyterian Pres-byterian Church entertained with a Missionary Tea Thursday afternoon at the Wasatch Teachers' Cottage. The coming year's work was outlined outlin-ed by Mrs. R. B. Norton, Mrs. T. M. Kcusseff and Miss Grace Newman. Viss Ethel McCormick conducted the devotionals and Miss Lucile Tyssel-ing Tyssel-ing contributed several beautiful vo-enl vo-enl solos. Victrola selections further added to the excellent program. About thirty guests were in attend-' attend-' ance. |
