Show BOY BREAKS NKK, BUT WILL RECOVER HUGH STRIXGHAM, 17 YEARS OLD, IS INJURED D1VIXG IX SHALLOW WATER. Suffering with a broken neck, Hugh Stringham, 17 years old, son of N. G. Stringham of the Peoples Sugar Co., is at the L. D. S. hospital, following an accident that occured at Moroni late Friday afternoon. He was taken to Salt Lake Saturday and it was given out that considering the extremely ex-tremely dangerous nature of his injury, in-jury, he is doing remarkably well and has a chance for recovery. "Hugh, with his brother, Paul, who is 18, and several other boys," said N. G. Stringham, "went swimming in a pond near Moroni. Hugh attempted attempt-ed to dive in too shallow water. His head struck the bottom so forcefully that his neck was fractured. When he failed to rise to the surface immediately, im-mediately, Paul and othersof the party par-ty investigated and found' him lying unconscious on the" bottom of the pond. They carried him to the office of Dr. B. C. Linebaugh, where he remained re-mained unconscious for several hours. Dr. Linebaugh gave first aid treatment treat-ment and ordered him removed to .Salt Lake, where better facilities to 'fit the nature of the case were avail-; avail-; able." The fracture was reduced by Dr. T. R. Richards, and, while a partial paralysis has resulted, the youth was said to be progressing favorably, and hopes are entertained for his recovery. |
